  • American Women's Club of Basel (AWC)
    A non-profit social and civic association founded in 1947, the AWC aims to further social relationships among American women who live in the Basel area (including women of other nationalities with ties to America), to promote friendly relations with our host country and the greater English-speaking community, and to contribute financial aid primarily to Swiss philanthropic organizations.
  • Basel English Pantomime Group
    Every Christmas something magical happens in Basel... amateur theatre group with club "keller" available for rentals.
  • Gilbert and Sullivan Society
    The aim of our Society is to promote enjoyment of the music and humour of Gilbert and Sullivan, in the Dreiländereck region around Basel. The Gilbert and Sullivan Society is a friendly international group. Join us and discover the traditional music and humour of Gilbert and Sullivan!
  • Professional Women's Group of Basel
    PWG Basel is a not-for-profit volunteer organization of international English-speaking women from all around the world who live in the Basel area. It exists to offer women of diverse professional and cultural backgrounds a platform to gain new insights, exchange information and share experiences whilst building friendships and professional relationships in a welcoming and social environment.
  • The Semi-Circle English Language Theatre Group
    The Semi-Circle is Basel's English language amateur theatre group.  We are a non-profit-making club, receiving no external financial support and relying entirely on volunteers.  Since 1975 we have been staging plays of various genres from musicals to comedies to tragedies to classics, and from a wealth of different playwrights from Ayckbourn to Coward, Miller to Pinter, Shaw to Wilde. The main productions take place in June and November every year.  We also hold monthly play readings in the Centrepoint Library.
  • Toastmasters of Basel
    One of the two public Toastmasters clubs in Basel city that holds meetings exclusively in English, Toastmasters of Basel meets on the 1st Tuesday and 3rd Wednesday of every month from 18:45 – 21:00. Guests are welcome.
  • Basel International Speakers
    One of the two public Toastmasters clubs in Basel city that holds meetings exclusively in English, Basel International Speakers meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of every month from 18:45 – 21:00. Guests are welcome.

General community interest

  • Basel Expats
    This site is a free service to the expat community in Basel and beyond. The purpose of the site is to inform English speaking expats living in the Tri-Nations Region on the 'knee' of the Rhine about issues that may be of interest to them.
  • Conscious Connection Network
    The Conscious Connection Network is an open and dynamic community of people who come together in Basel to connect and grow on personal and spiritual levels. Our monthly meetings are co-created by the community and each meeting is different. Topics include philosophical discussions, spiritual movies, meditations, personal development techniques, mini-workshops and book reviews.
  • Life in Basel
    This site is dedicated to providing accurate, honest and balanced information about living in or moving to Basel.
  • The English Show (94.5 Radio X Basel)
    The English Show is produced by an organization of English speaking ex-patriates in Basel. We broadcast 90 minutes of live radio on 94.5 FM Radio X every Tuesday night from 6:30 PM. Our purpose is to bring information about events in the Basel - St.Louis (F) - Lorrach (D) region to the expat community and interested local English speakers.

  • British/Swiss Chamber of Commerce
    The British-Swiss Chamber of Commerce (BSCC) was founded in 1920 and is an independent not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting its 750-plus Members and promoting business relations between Switzerland, Liechtenstein and the UK. The Chamber provides an ideal network and platform for business people to facilitate dialogue and change.

Parenting community

  • Basel Children's Trust
    The BCT is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization that provides help, support, and information to expectant parents and families with young children living in the Basel area: from "bump" to "babe" and "beyond".
  • HSK English (Heimatliche Sprache und Kultur)
    HSK offers English lessons to mother-tongue speakers who attend Swiss schools in Basel-Stadt and Basel-Land and would like to keep up and improve their English.
