Volunteering
Whatever your interests, skills or time budget, you are welcome to contribute. Start your own activity group, lead a conversation group, organize events, help with marketing or become a volunteer for a day..
As Secretary you are responsible for preparing the monthly board meetings, the Annual General Meeting and recording all actions and decisions. You are closely working together with your colleagues on the Board by keeping the calendar and all procedures up to date.
If you are interested in this role at the heart of Centrepoint, please contact Jan-Willem van Wijck at president[at]centrepoint.ch
The Editor for Static Content will review and update the static webpages (ie. volunteering, activity groups, language conversation groups or member benefits) on a monthly or quarterly basis in close collaboration with the responsible board members.
The Editor for Editorial Content will lead the editorial team and coordinate the creation and publication of news, reports and features. Together the two editors are responsible for ensuring that the Centrepoint website remains informative and appealing, attracting both members and potential members and partners. Both editors will be part of the editorial team and the Communication and Marketing team.
The goal is to create 5-6 ArtWall exhibitions per year in the Centrepoint hallway. You should have a special interest in arts, be open to explore local arts and create contact to artists.y
You will have a small team of helpers to set up exhibitions and vernissages.
Centrepoint can be visited during the opening hours to connect with members. The Front Desk Volunteers are open for questions and will be happy to help.

„Centrepoint is a great place if you want to connect with people. Volunteering is the way to get in touch with the club members, socialise and learn about the fascinating stories they have to share.“
Heidrun, Vice President and Communications Coordinator
„Apart from the language lessons, trips, talks and aperos, Centrepoint is the place to meet people from diverse and interesting backgrounds. Giving back to a community that has done so much for me is very satisfying. Centrepoint has people at its heart, and its heart is for the people.“
Wouter, Volunteer Coordinator
„I’m excited about my role as Trips Coordinator and the chance to discover more about the beautiful city of Basel and its surroundings. It’s also a great way to support Centrepoint, since all its activities are managed entirely by volunteers.“
Michelle, Trips Coordinator
„Almost anything can be interesting if you dig deep enough. That’s why I agreed to take over as Talks Coordinator – and because nothing virtual can ever match the concentration and excitement of a live, in-person event.“
Bronwen, Talks Coordinator
„Centrepoint is the result of a unique vision and a dedicated team of volunteers. I am proud of what all of us, from the oldest to the newest members, have accomplished over the years. May our "home" in the beautiful Lohnhof continue to thrive as a place where everyone feels welcome, enjoys meeting people and has the urge to get involved.“
Jan, Centrepoint founding members and, well over 25 years later, still an active member and volunteer
„I love Centrepoint for its diversity, you will find people from over the world who can share their own story of Swiss integration and inspire you!“
Maria
„At Centrepoint I love working together with dedicated and skilled people on the communications team.“
Maik, Website Manager
„I really enjoy being a volunteer at Centrepoint. It gives me meaning and purpose as well as plentiful opportunities to socialise with the members of this great community.“
