Living in Switzerland as an international often means learning how different systems work – from health insurance and schooling to pensions, taxation and housing. Much of this information exists, but it is rarely gathered in one place. Expat Expo Basel 2026 aims to do exactly that.

Talk: The Air We Breathe
This talk by Aletta Karsies explains what air pollution actually is, where it comes from, and how it affects our health in daily life. Recent maps of air-pollution levels across Europe and in Basel will be presented to explain how much air quality can vary from place to place.

Fasnacht and its Blaggette
2026’s Basel Carnival badge (Blaggette) with the motto «Blyyb verspiilt» (stay playful) represents the energy and vigour that children and adolescents give to the event in the middle of the “three most beautiful days”.

Following last year's success, this three-part workshop will be offered again. It gives you an opportunity to learn the basics of phone photography and get practical experience.
