Jakob’s City Tour: “St. Alban Valley”
The domain of the first (Benedictine) monastery in Basel. This area saw Basel’s first Roman port and later in the late middle ages a thriving industry, including paper-making based on a cluster of ingeniously constructed water-driven mills.

A great painter exhibits his works at Centrepoint
The painter Alvaro de Taddeo (born 1957) from Basel attended the Humanistic Gymnasium Basel, completed a preparatory course at the Basel School of Applied Arts and then an apprenticeship as a window dresser.

Finding your Circle: A New Support & Connection Group
Sometimes, despite the beautiful surroundings, we find ourselves looking for a deeper sense of connection—a place where we can speak openly and be truly heard. We will gather as a group of ten, meeting weekly for 90 minutes over a six-week period. Our conversations will be guided by what matters most to you.

Photography group and photo competitions
The photography group organises several activities and events. In addition to the workshops, the group also invites Centrepoint members – and their household members – to participate in photo competitions.

iPhone Photography Workshop
Once again, the iPhone workshop organised by the Centrepoint Photography Club has attracted a great deal of interest. Over the course of three evenings, the enthusiastic participants were guided through everything from optimal camera settings and camera handling to comprehensive editing options.

Answering the Call
It was no surprise that Centrepoint had a large turnout for the exhibition “London Calling: Swiss-British Cultural Exchange” on April 23. As part of an international organisation in Switzerland with English as the common language, Centrepoint’s members are already part of the ongoing exchange.

Timeless Beauty at the Andreas Ernst Sammlung in Muttenz
While Bronwen Saunders (Centrepoint's Talks Coordinator) was searching for a solution to repair her heirloom clock, she came into contact with John Joseph, a timepiece repairer and restorer with over 40 years of experience. Trained in London, John moved to Bern in the 1990s and took over Hermann Schudel’s traditional workshop in Basel in 1998. John’s speciality is restoring timepieces – mechanical watches, pendulums, grandfather clocks and pocket watches – with special cultural or technical significance.
