Centrepoint’s Photo Competition – SCENES OF WATER

The competition organised by the Centrepoint Photography Club has proved extremely popular. It was precisely because of the intense heat and drought of the summer of 2026 that many photographers were drawn to water. The theme ‘Scenes of Water’ allowed it to be depicted expressively in all its forms and variations. With nearly forty entries, interest in the club’s internal competition had grown even further.

The high level of participation in the vote for the top three favourites was impressive with over a hundred members taking part. Many thanks to the photographers and to everyone who actively cast their votes.

Dave Garbutt – Reed Reflection

The winning photograph from Dave Garbutt, ‘Reed – Reflection’, impresses with its exceptional image quality and finely balanced composition. The calm water surface creates a fascinating reflection, whilst the reeds, as a graphic element, lend the image an elegant sense of movement.

Stefen Müller – Water and Lights

The interplay of sharp focus, soft background blur and the intense, natural shades of green is particularly successful. An atmospheric yet technically impressive photograph that invites the viewer to linger.

Belinda Prinzen – Reflections & Refractions

As well as introducing Centrepoint’s president-elect, Anna Frick, at the well-attended September drinks reception on 17 September, the submitted photos were showcased in an animated video presentation.

It was a nail-biter right up to the end! The impressively produced video, accompanied by enchanting music, delighted the Centrepoint members.

The winners of the “SCENES OF WATER” Photo Competition:

  1. Dave Garbutt – Reed Reflection
  2. Stefen Müller – Water and Lights
  3. Belinda Prinzen – Reflections & Refractions

Thanks to the overwhelmingly positive feedback the photography club will be organising another competition next year.
