Sunday Walkers: Mariastein to Flüh via Landskron castle

This walk starts at Mariastein and proceeds across fields to Landskron castle near Leymen (France). The castle was built in 1297, and the ruins offer beautiful views over autumnal Switzerland and France. After exploring the castle for a while, we’ll head down to Leymen and on to Flüh, where we can have coffee for all who might like that. From there you can catch tram 10 back to Basel.

Centrepoint’s Photo Competition – SCENES OF WATER

The high level of participation in the vote for the top three favourites was impressive with over a hundred members taking part. The theme ‘Scenes of Water’ allowed it to be depicted expressively in all its forms and variations. With nearly forty entries, interest in the club’s internal competition had grown even further.

Volunteer of the month

October 2026, Jan Hawley and Roger Bonner

This month Centrepoint celebrates its 30/31 years of existence - two of our longest standing members, Jan and Roger, have been supporting Centrepoint since its very beginning, and they are still active today! Usually, the board writes a laudatio to highlight the achievements of volunteers. This time, Jan and Roger provided us with such a wonderful text, that we wouldn’t want to keep from you.

Centrepoint Minigolf Trophy 2026

Even this simple game still requires concentration and a calm approach. The holes, tunnels, and obstacles of the parcours should not be underestimated, but the training session at the start of the season contributed to good shots and, sometimes, lucky ones.

Basel Münster: Tour of the Interior with Jakob

First Jakob will tell you the story of Basel cathedral’s fascinating 1,200-year-long history and then we will take a tour of the building and learn about many of those who are remembered there and made a lasting impression beyond their lifetimes. Along the way, we can see and admire what the builders, master craftsmen, and stonemasons created in terms of architecture, construction skills, and decorations, including the tombs and memorials.
