Gsuender Basel: Stay active and have fun

Summer is here with everything it brings -including heat waves and long sunny days – inviting us outdoors to enjoy everything Basel has to offer during this time of year.

After the winter months, when we often spend more time indoors, eat heavier food to stay warm, and lead a more sedentary lifestyle, summer offers the perfect opportunity to rejuvenate both body and mind. Now is the time to get moving again, enjoy Basel’s parks, and meet new people while taking part in activities we enjoy.

Gsünder Basel is an independent, non-profit association that serves as the regional competence centre for health promotion in the Basel region. It is part of the regional public health promotion network in Basel, collaborating with the canton, healthcare providers, businesses, and community organizations.

Its activities include:

• Exercise and fitness courses
• Stress management and relaxation
• Nutrition education
• Workplace health promotion
• Community health projects (such as Aktiv! im Sommer)
• Programs for migrants, children, and older adults

A wide range of courses are available for all interests, ages, and fitness levels. These include exercise classes such as Pilates and Dance Fitness, relaxation courses like Tai Chi and Yoga, as well as water-based activities such as Aqua Gym and Aqua Rhythm.

The Aktiv! im Sommer project

In addition to its year-round programs aimed at supporting health and physical activity, Gsünder Basel runs the Aktiv! im Sommer project, offering free outdoor activities during the summer months.

The courses are spread across Basel’s city parks, making them easily accessible and encouraging more people to participate in their favourite activities.

The activities are free of charge and are cancelled in case of rain.
