President’s words: looking back at the AGM

Dear Centrepointers,

On Thursday 19 March 2026 we met again for Centrepoint’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). No less than 78 members, representing 64 households joined, a fantastic turnout.

As a team we had good results to share, the 400th member was registered in the week of the meeting! In 2025, mainly thanks to 20 more members, steady advertising income and successful activities, we created financial space to invest in the new website that we proudly launched on 6 February 2026.

Our club can rely on a solid base of around 130 volunteers who work on a wide and interesting range of activities, for the members, by the members.

For 2026 the objectives for Centrepoint are very much in line with the existing objectives that we have:

  1. Members: increasing the number of members to 400+
  2. Volunteers: all volunteer positions filled, no long term vacancies
  3. Activities: larger and wider portfolio
  4. Communication & Marketing: faster, more digitalised communication, wider reach by using the new website as a marketing tool
  5. Secretariat: up-to-date policies, procedures and IT infrastructure
  6. Finance: balanced budget with increased income and smart use of funds

For me personally, objective 2 will play a special role in the coming year. It is my third year as president and according to the Centrepoint statutes it must be my last. I am looking forward to handing over this interesting and rewarding role to a motivated successor at the AGM in March 2027. If you know someone, or if you are someone who would be keen to pick it up, please let me know. The better we can organise the handover the better it is for Centrepoint. Our club deserves it!

With warm regards,

Jan-Willem van Wijck
